Journals for memories and legacy

Cancer happens to families, not only to patients. Partners, parents, children and friends carry their own version of the worry, often while keeping everything else running. The National Cancer Institute has a plain guide to caregiver support, and the journals in the first section of this guide are as useful to caregivers as to patients.

Many families also find themselves reaching for the stories. Some moments are worth holding onto, whatever the road ahead looks like. Gathering the photos, traditions and milestones that matter most is something a patient and their family can do together, and it matters regardless of prognosis: as a comfort now, and as something kept safe for years to come.
